Plot
When playing a trumpet in the combustion chamber, the protagonist's voice is heard in the narrative. The story begins with him disguised as "Danny Parker", a methamphetamine addict addict, who mixes with friends while enjoying drugs. He also moonlight as an informant for two corrupt policemen, Gus Morgan (Doug Hutchison) and Al Garcetti (Anthony LaPaglia). He is trying to make a big meth score with the famous drug seller Pooh Bear (D'Onofrio), an eccentric psychopath who lost his nose to excessive grunt "Gak" (shabu), while also trying to arrange a sting operation for Morgan and Garcetti.
When he returns home, Danny releases his clothes and personality, and bask in his past life as a trumpet player "Tom Van Allen". She revealed to an abusive neighbor named Colette (Deborah Kara Unger) that she was once married happily, only to witness her was shot dead by a masked thief during a stopover at the Salton Sea.
When meeting Pooh Bear, Danny becomes afraid of Pooh Bear's appearance about the strange killing behavior, so he records a pistol to the bottom of the table.
Danny's father-in-law's parents traced him, believing that he had been drowned in depression after the death of his wife, but he told them that he did not want their help. As the deal closes, it is known that Danny is not only working for the police but the FBI agent is working to bring down Morgan and Garcetti, who have committed several murders. It was also revealed that they were the men who killed his wife and wounded him when they robbed a drug dealer. Danny had started his own investigation when he found out who Morgan was and searched the world under drugs to become a trustworthy addict.
On the eve of the deal, Danny, with the help of his best friend Jimmy (Peter Sarsgaard), leads the FBI to the wrong location. Meanwhile, Danny arrives at Pooh Bear's house. At the dinner table, surrounded by Pooh Bear's armed friends, the tension rises and one of Pooh Bear's men tries to kill Danny, who picks up a hidden gun earlier and shoots the rest of the gang. Shot in the chest by Pooh Bear, Danny fell to the floor.
Pooh Bear, who was injured in the foot, took meth injections while muttering unclearly. Morgan and Garcetti arrive, find the massacre, and Garcetti kills Pooh Bear, whose hypo drug crashes to the floor. Garcetti was later killed by Danny, whose life was saved by a bulletproof vest. Morgan was shot twice by Danny, who revealed to Morgan that he knew he killed his wife. Morgan managed to grab Danny's gun, but found it empty. Danny found the needle Pooh Bear on the floor and stuffed it into Morgan's neck, then grabbed the gun and pondered the suicide briefly, but then shot Morgan several times and ran away.
Returning to his apartment he inserted his Tom Van Allen identity again, but was shot by Colette's "girlfriend" (Luis Guzman), who was actually an agent charged with exact revenge for the Mexicali Children, a leader among whom Danny turned to police before today's movie show today. Collette says she was forced to betray Danny because her daughter was taken hostage. The room was on fire, and Danny played another song on his trumpet before fainting.
He regains consciousness to find that Jimmy has saved him from the fire and took him to the hospital. After he recovers, he leaves town, and the identities of Danny and Tom, in the back.
