Histori
The Turtles brand candy was developed by Johnson's Candy Company (which became DeMet's Candy Company in 1923) in 1918, after a salesman broke into the boarder's pinched room and showed a candy to one of the scoops, indicating that the candy looked like a turtle.. Soon after, the Candy Company Johnson made the same candy and sold it under the name "Turtles."
Today, Turtles candies come in different sizes, shapes and recipes, some even shaped like turtles, with modern mold-making techniques, but the original ones are produced by candy dippers on rectangular marble 'boards', similar in size to contemporary kitchen cutting boards. Original recipes, such as those executed on marble, are peanuts, caramels and various chocolates; they are multi-tasking confection, need some sittings.

Trademark
Pecan dipped in chocolate is usually made in the early 1900s, but Johnson's Candy Company first protects the trademark "Turtles." In 1923, the stores dropped Johnson's name and took the name DeMet's, past the trademark.
Nestle owned the brand in the United States for a while, but sold it to Brynwood Partners Candy Company in 2007. In 2013, Brynwood sold the company to Y? Ld? Z Holding.
In Canada, Nestle continues to sell Turtles at retailers under the Nestle brand name.
