Nusret GÃÆ'¶kÃÆ'§e ( [nus'? et? ÃÆ'¸c't ?? e] ), born in 1983), dubbed Salt Bae , is a Turkish chef and owner of the Nusr-Et, a chain of Turkish steak houses. The art of cooking and preparing the meat into an internet sensation. She is a trained butcher and chef.

GÃÆ'¶kÃÆ'§e visited several countries such as Argentina and the United States between 2007 and 2010, where he worked in local restaurants for free, to gain experience as a chef and restaurant owner. Upon his return to Turkey, GÃÆ'¶kÃÆ'§e opened his first restaurant in Istanbul in 2010. Four years later, in 2014, he opened a Dubai restaurant. After success in Dubai, GÃÆ'¶kÃÆ'§e opened in Abu Dhabi three years later in 2017.
GÃÆ'¶kÃÆ'§e became more widely known through a series of viral internet videos and memes from January 2017 that showed him "suavely" cutting meat and sprinkling salt.
In February 2017 at the Laureus World Sports Awards, GÃÆ'¶kÃÆ'§e presents the Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles.
In December 2017 he received criticism over a 2016 photo posing in front of a Fidel Castro image.
Initial professional reviews in 2018 from a steakhouse in New York City are generally negative. Eater's Robert Sietsema describes the steak as "chewy and low-flavored." Steve Cuozzo of The Post called the restaurant "Public Rip-off No. 1" and Joshua David Stein wrote in GQ that the steak was "ordinary," and the hamburger was "overcooked."

His fame comes from the viral video, "Ottoman Steak", posted on January 7, 2017 on his restaurant Twitter account. It was seen 10 million times on Instagram, after which he was nicknamed "Salt Bae" because of the way his icon sprinkled salt: let the salt fall on his forearm then spread to the flesh. She was then interviewed by NBC News, where she said "The shape of the meat and the flavors that start from top to bottom is part of me... All my feelings come from within the flesh up to when I put salt into the flesh." He then parodies himself in posing with voting while casting a vote in a Turkish referendum 2017.
