Robert Earl Holding (November 29, 1926 - April 19, 2013) is an American businessman who owns Sinclair Oil Corporation, Grand America Hotel & amp; Resorts, Grand America Hotel, Westgate Hotel in San Diego, California (directed by Georg Hochfilzer), and two ski resorts, Sun Valley in central Idaho since 1977, and Snowbasin near Ogden, Utah, since 1984.

Early life and education
Holding, affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Utah. His parents are caregivers of the apartment.

In 1952, Holding began working at the first Little America to the west of Rock Springs, Wyoming. In 1965, Holding and his wife, former Carol Orme, started Small America in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and completed construction a year later. For a while they lived in a house on this small American land. His son, Stephen, also lived there when he arranged the travel plaza. In 2008, Holdings added a large convention and conference center in Little America.
Holding is owned by 400,000 acres (1,600 km 2 ) from cattle farms working in northern Wyoming and southern Montana.
With an estimated net worth of approximately $ 3.2 billion at the time of his death, he was ranked on the Forbes Forbes 400 list as the 15th richest man in America.
After suffering a severe stroke in 2002, Holding partially paralyzed, but made enough recovery and to continue organizing his management until his death in spring 2013.
On his death, Governor Matt Mead of Wyoming said:
Earl Holding's graduation is a sad day for Wyoming. He and his wife, Carol, have lived the American dream story. Their accomplishments grew during the Depression, proficient in business, and giving back to countries and countries symbolized the story. Earl is not just an icon in business, he is an incredible philanthropist. This is a great American success story, because, for him, the achievement of two businesses and giving back - can not be separated.
Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says that he can not "imagine what Cheyenne would look like if we did not have the Little America resort." The things we do not see are the guides he gives as a man, as a businessman, [and] his relationship with many people in Cheyenne over several decades.He treats people like they are old friends.He left a pretty big inheritance. "
