Cooperation with city officials â ⬠<â â¬
City officials are facing a recent rumor that they will not renew the city's permit for demonstrators to camp in Pioneer parks. After one of the Occupy Salt Lake City committees received a letter from the city, he published a post expressing concern over the possible forcible removal from the camp site by the city police. However, after discussions with city officials and occupying the organizers, the rumor turned out to be wrong. The problem is miscommunication and quickly resolved. The head of the Salt Lake Police Department commented on the issue and stated that there was never any intention to stop the protesters, and praised the Occupy SLC organizers for their tremendous cooperation with police and city officials. One of the organizers commented and hoped to avoid civil disobedience, however, stating that non-compliance would occur if protesters were forced to leave.
Conflict
There are some concerns over security reports among the protesters at Pioneer Park. One of the protest organizers stated that there was an internal conflict that developed during a fight between people, sexual harassment, threats, and graffiti. Also, over the past month there have been concerns over whether protests will hinder the local farmers' markets held every Saturday at Pioneer Park.
Expansion
The Occupy movement in Utah began to grow in October and November 2011 with new campsites in Salt Lake City in front of the Federal Reserve Bank Building and new demonstrations emerging in the cities of Ogden and Park City.
