History
Frappuccino is a portmanteau "frappe", a New England name for milkshakes with ice cream, and cappuccino, espresso coffee with foamy milk. The word was created and trademarked in Boston, Massachusetts. In the Boston area, "frappe" (pronounced "frap" and spelled without accent) is a thick milkshake with ice cream, derived from the French word
The original drink of Frappuccino was developed, named, trademarked, and sold by George Howell coffee shop network in Eastern Massachusetts, The Coffee Connection and created by the employee, Andrew Frank. When Starbucks purchased The Coffee Connection in 1994, they also obtained the right to use, manufacture, market and sell Frappuccino drinks. Drinks, with different recipes, were introduced under the name Starbucks in 1995 and by 2012, Starbucks has annual Frappuccino sales of more than $ 2 billion.
This recipe comes from a mix of cold drinks, including coffee fraps (similar to ice coffee) and frappe (with ice cream, syrup and milk), with Italian cappuccino. Today's recipe consists of coffee, ice, and other additives that are brewed like milk, sugar, flavored syrup, and whipped cream.

Available versions
The following is a list of the typical versions available for each type of Frappuccino.
No caffeine
At customer's request, Starbucks baristas can make Frappuccino with decaffeinated espresso instead of using instant coffee Frappuccino Roast.
Cr̮'̬me
The coffee-free base was created to create a drink called Frappuccino Blended Cr̮'̬me. Examples of the menu include Mocha Cr̮'̬me, Caramel Cr̮'̬me, Vanilla Bean Cr̮'̬me, and Strawberries and Cr̮'̬me Frappuccino. Any syrup or sauce can be used to make Frappuccino Blended Cr̮'̬me. Cr̮'̬me Frappuccinos contain very little or no caffeine.
Non-dairy alternatives
Frappuccino made with soy milk is available in stores in the United States and Canada in 2010. In January 2011, Starbucks introduced this option to Australian stores, and the option was already available in other countries. Starbucks has since introduced a selection of coconut milk and almonds.
Juice blends
In the summer of 2006, Starbucks introduced the Frappuccino Juice Blend , described as "real fruit juice combined with Tazo Tea, mixed with ice". Juice Blends gradually discontinued during 2007 and 2008 and is no longer offered by Starbucks.
Modify
Frappuccino may include additional ingredients, which can include espresso shots, flavored syrup, chocolate chips, and flavored powders. Consumers can also adjust the consistency of Frappuccino by ordering ice or extra light. Each Frappuccino can have additional syrup, espresso injection, or any other modification at a possible additional cost.
Bottle "Frappuccino"
A bottle Frappuccino is sold at retail stores and vending machines. US 9.5-oz. the bottle version was originally produced in 1996 by PepsiCo in Springfield, Missouri, but has since expanded and also produced in Ventura, California; Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; and Cabool, Missouri. The Springfield factory produces 186 million Frappuccino glass bottles each year. In Europe, this product is made by Arla Foods in Denmark. While carrying the Frappuccino brand, this packaging version has no semblance to be seen with products made in Starbucks stores; they are just coffee, milk, sweeteners, and sometimes, flavorings, which can be confusing for the customer.
North American Coffee Partnership
In 1994, PepsiCo and Starbucks formed an entity called the North American Coffee Partnership. The joint venture was made so that ready-to-drink products under the name Starbucks could be distributed using Pepsi's global network. The Frappuccino is the first product of the joint venture. Since 1996, NACP has grown to include a large portfolio of Starbucks branded coffee and beverage drinks. NACP has about 97% market share in RTD coffee (ready to drink) and has grown into a retail business worth over $ 1.5 billion.
