Nikola Zero
The prototype model, Nikola Zero , is the Utility Task Vehicle, with a 72 or 107 kWh battery. It has 555 hp combined from the motor in each wheel, weighs 3,500-lb, and uses a 14.5 '-clearance suspension similar to the Ford Raptor. It has been split into powersports products, in the Nikola Powersports division .
Nikola One
The company designed an electric Class 8 truck called Nikola One , with an EV 320 kWh battery that supplies 6 traction electric motors with limited software limited to 1,000 hp (750 kW) and 2,000 pounds. (2,700 N? M) of torque (nearly 86,000 lb.Ft (117,000Ã, N? M) after gear reduction), inspired by electric locomotives. This is enough to keep the speed of 65 mph (105 km/h) with a full load of 80,000 pounds (36 tons) in grade 6%. The energy source is a 300 kW hydrogen fuel cell consuming 4.6 kg (10 pounds) H 2 per 100 km (62 mi) of a tank with 100 kg (220 pounds) of hydrogen, giving a range of 1,200 Ã, mi (1,900 km). The consumption is equivalent to 15.4 mpg of diesel. This truck has a regenerative brake to complement traditional disc brakes, reducing stopping distance and fuel use. The hydrogen version was inaugurated in December 2016 and is expected to be available by 2019. In some markets, compressed natural gas to power on-board gas turbine generators can be used instead.
The first 5,000 trucks will be built by Fitzgerald in Byrdstown, Tennessee; the company is known for its "glider" truck, built without a machine.
On May 1, 2018 Nikola Motor Company filed a lawsuit against Tesla seeking $ 2 billion in damages alleging that Tesla Semi violated several Nikola patents have been granted on the Nikola One design. Tesla has responded that the lawsuit was unfounded.
On May 3, 2018, Anheuser-Busch ordered up to 800 of the hydrogen-powered truck version and Nikola claimed the truck will begin shipping by 2020.
Nikola Two
The company has announced plans to build a hydrogen powered day taxi called Nikola Two, with an estimated power and range similar to that of Nikola One.
