Histori
Design House Stockholm was founded in 1992 by Anders FÃÆ'¤rdig, who previously owned the HÃÆ'¶ganÃÆ'¤s and Boda Nova brands. Using his extensive knowledge in design management from previous experience managing Boda Nova and HÃÆ'¶ganÃÆ'¤s, FÃÆ'¤rdig created an independent network of designers who remain the platform from which Stockholm Home Designs operate today. In 1997 a collection of Stockholm House Design products was launched, starting with the Harri Koskinen Lights Block which soon became a worldwide success Harri Koskinen Lights Block designed in 1996 - which still remains one of the flagship products of Stockholm's Design House, and has won several appreciation.
Stockholm's Design House has distinguished itself as a design publisher, similar to the way publishers work with authors, rather than the average producer who chooses designers to design a particular product. The company allows designers to present their personal ideas, some of which are selected for production. The CEO of the company Anders FÃÆ'¤rdig says the ambitions of the Stockholm Design House are to be the current famous Scandinavian design mirror - the term 'Scandinavian' which refers to a philosophical and aesthetic perspective, rather than geography and nationalism. FÃÆ'¤rdig also points out that: "We are a product dropper, not a name-dropper". This is not a political statement; it is philosophy.
The company has been represented in MoMA's permanent collection by Harri Koskinen Block Lamp since 2000.
