Project Runway season 5 started filming the first week of June 2008 and aired on July 16, 2008 at 9:00 pm. It was the last season of Project Runway broadcasted in Bravo. The next season is shown in Lifetime.
Back as a judge are supermodel Heidi Klum, fashion designer Michael Kors, and Elle editor-in-large Nina Garcia. Tim Gunn returned as a mentor for the designers.
The last four designers all produce collections for Bryant Park Fashion Week. The winner of this season Project Runway, Leanne Marshall, received an editorial feature in the Elle magazine issue, a $ 100,000 cash prize from TRESemmÃÆ'Â perawatan hair care to start on its own line, an opportunity to sell fashion lines on Bluefly.com , and the new Saturn Vue 2009 car.
Jerell Scott and Kenley Collins then appear on Project Runway: All Stars in 2012, with Jerell coming in 5th, and Kenley 4th. Stephen "Suede" Baum, in the same year, competed in the second season of the All Stars 11th edition of 13. Korto Momolu competed in the All Stars third season, finished 2nd. 11. Stella Zotis appeared in the fifth season of the All Stars, placing 11 from 13.

Episode 1: Mari Mulai dari Awal
Repeating the first challenge on Season 1 Project Runway, the designers were asked to make a display using only the material purchased from the Gristedes grocery store. The designers were given 30 minutes and $ 75 to shop for stuff, and then one day to finish the clothes. Most of the designers were criticized by Tim Gunn's mentor for using substitute cloths like tablecloths in their looks, which were not what the challenge was. The winner receives immunity for the next challenge. The guest judge, Austin Scarlett, competed in Season 1 Project Runway and won the same challenge with a dress made of corn husk.

Episode 2: The Grass is Always Green
The designers were asked to make cocktail dresses with their models as their clients. They were asked to use eco-friendly or conscious fabrics from Mood, with their model doing fabric selection without consulting them. They were given $ 75 and one day to finish their clothes. The winners do not accept immunity, but can sell their garments at Bluefly.

Episode 3: Bright/Large City Light
The designers were assigned to create a display of their choice inspired by the vibrant nightlife of New York City. Tim Gunn drove the designers around the city via tour buses, then gave them digital cameras to take their inspirational photos. Four designer groups are lowered at different stops and have an hour to take their photos. They were given $ 100 and one day to complete their designs. The winner receives immunity for the next challenge.

Episode 4: Rings of Glory
The designers were taken to the Armory Track Training Center and Field by their mentor, Tim Gunn, and introduced to the US Olympiad and speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno. Their next challenge was to design the look of women's clothing for the 2008 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony. They were given 30 minutes to sketch and take inspiration from the National Track and Field Museum, after which they were given $ 150 and one day to complete their design. The winner receives immunity for the next challenge.

Episode 5: Welcome to the Jungle
Working in teams of two, designers were asked to make clothes that could transition from day to night to Brooke Shields characters, Wendy Healy on the Jungle Lipstick television show. The winning design will be worn by Brooke Shields in Season 2 of Lipstick Jungle . Each team is given a $ 150 budget and a day to complete their design. After sketching individually for 30 minutes and throwing their ideas into Shields, six designers were chosen by Brooke as team leader (team leader shown in bold below). Team leaders are randomly selected and select teammates.

The designers are randomly selected to choose which drag queen to use. They were given $ 200 to shop for supplies and two days to complete their design. Episode 7: The Mode That Encourages You
The designers were asked to make clothing made entirely of spare parts and raw materials from the Saturn hybrid car. They were told to walk to 142 West 31st Street in Manhattan. After taking the elevator to the roof of the building, they were ordered to collect as much as possible the recycled car parts from the parked Saturn vehicle. They have four minutes to collect the material and one day to complete their clothing. The winner receives immunity for the next challenge.

Episode 8: Double Mode 0
The designers were taken to the Meatpacking District and taken to the office and the design of the fashion lifestyle showroom and current CFDA president, designer Diane von FÃÆ'¼rstenberg. Their challenge is to create a 2008 Fall collection inspired by the movie A Foreign Affair, starring screen legend Marlene Dietrich. They were given freedom and 15 minutes inside the sample room cloth Diane von FÃÆ'¼rstenberg to select the fabric for their design. The winning garment is produced in limited quantities and sold exclusively to American Express cardholders, with proceeds going to the CFDA Foundation. The winner does not accept immunity for the next challenge.

Episode 9: What's Your Signs?
The designers work in pairs with designers who are eliminated to make avant-garde garments around one of the two astrological signs of their group. They have one day and 8 hours to complete the look. The night before the runway, they were taken to the American Museum of Natural History in New York. There the designers were greeted with surprise appearances from former Project Runway designers and winners Kara Janx, Alison Kelly, Jay McCarroll, Robert Plotkin, Christian Siriano, Daniel Vosovic, & amp; Carmen Webber, who all voted on the look of victory. This episode features a double shock elimination & amp; the winner no longer has the advantage of advanced immunity.

Episode 10: Transformation
The designers were given new college graduates and were given the task of giving them a fashion change to help them enter the workforce. Each designer must direct their views on their client's specific profession, while maintaining their style and pleasing both their clients and their mothers. The designers were given the task, before setting out to create their collections, creating a wedding dress for their collection. In addition to the wedding dress, they are judged on the 11th view, bridesmaid dresses to go with it. This is the first time all the finalists have the same gender (female).

Episode 14: Finale, Part 2
Before the runway show, the finalists, each of whom had twelve suits ready for the runway, were told that they would only be able to show ten, forcing the last minute edits of their collection. The guest judge was originally scheduled to be Jennifer Lopez, but she was unable to participate due to a foot injury and was replaced by Tim Gunn. After the presentation of all three collections, the jury stated that Leanne Marshall had created the best collection and named it the winner of Season 5 of Project Runway.
