History

The Salt Lake Valley settlement begins when the train carts of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began to arrive in 1847. In 1858, peasants from the town of Lehi and Kay's Creek who were then settled, looking for a new place for the homestead, the area now known as the City of Plain. On March 17, 1859, led by Lorin Farr, a group arrived to begin homiliading. Immediately upon arrival, the group surveyed a townsite and commissioned many buildings. The city layout uses an organized block grid and street system, initially six blocks from north to south and three blocks from east to west.   • Maude Knight married Chester Rodney England in 1916; he founded C.R. British truck in 1920 to transport crops to nearby farmers.
